Today was sort of a catch-up day for me (with City of Lakes Loppet prep), but it was also the cherry on top of a really great weekend.
Friday: Went to the Koo Koo concert at Augsburg, heard their two new songs (Love Dino Stomp) and danced to some fun tunes (i.e. SHOUT, the Hokey Pokey, Electric Slide). Finished the night with some edamame, wine, 500 Days of Summer, all with good company.
Saturday: Checked out the Midtown Global Market and then moseyed around the Linden Hills neighborhood. Ever been to Wild Rumpus? It's a fantastic kid's bookshop with lots of pets (a chicken, chinchillas, cats, lizards, a tarantula, and more). They were closing, so we couldn't spend too much time in there. We popped into a few boutiques, then were intrigued by a man playing saxophone inside the window of a shop. What type of shop was this? A meat shop. Odd, but amazing! Ended the night with a home-cooked meal, a movie, music and more good company. One great playlist was created - here's part of it (click to zoom):
Sunday: Attended the Minnesota State Agricultural Society Annual Breakfast and Meeting (aka State Fair Board annual meeting with 1,000 of our closest county fair-lovin' friends). It was actually pretty interesting to see the traditions they continue year after year. Sunday afternoon was filled with a few great naps, then followed by a pot-luck with seven girl friends from camp. Check out the video of us playing "Just Dance" on the Wii!
Today: Spent a lot of time collecting my thoughts and getting organized for the Feb. 6-7 Loppet. I'm getting really excited to be involved with such a fun, ski-loving group of people. Let's hope for good weather that weekend! I also got to spend a few great hours with my roommates picking out fabric for around the house and checking out "Leap Year." Who DOESN'T love indulging in chick flicks?? :)
Back to work tomorrow . . . good thing it's only a four-day week! Counting the days until I can see my Linden Hills travel partner again. :)
